The Weight of More | Rhythm | Zen

Hello there! Welcome to my weekly LEAPS.

You’re receiving this email because you subscribed to my weekly Wednesday feature or our mailing list. Every Wednesday, I share 5 things using our LEAPS approach:

Learn: something new or an idea
Energy: an energy (good or bad) word and it’s meaning
Action: something to do
Processing: a question to consider
Shout out: something or someone that I want to celebrate or acknowledge

LEARN
Something Worth Sharing

The Weight of More

Modern life asks us to process an extraordinary amount of information. News updates arrive by the minute, opinions compete for attention, and every decision seems to come with more options than before. The result is often not better thinking, but overwhelm.

When there is too much to take in, clarity becomes harder to find.

One of the principles behind designing the Leapers Club was recognising this reality. Rather than adding more noise, more content, or more pressure to keep up, it was built around something simpler: small ideas shared weekly that can be reflected on, explored, and applied in manageable ways.

Research in cognitive science shows that people process and retain information more effectively when it is presented in small, manageable chunks, a principle often called chunking (popularised by psychologist George A. Miller in his work on the limits of working memory). Studies on visual learning and cognitive load also show that clear visual structures help the brain organise and remember information more easily than dense text alone - great news for our visuals!

Real change rarely comes from consuming more information. It usually comes from noticing one idea, thinking about it properly, and taking one small, thoughtful step forward.

ENERGY
An emotion or energy; a stand-out word / s

Rhythm

This word keeps popping up for me at the moment - although spelling it is a constant challenge!

Rhythm is from the Greek rhythmos, meaning a measured flow or recurring movement. Progress rarely comes from doing more. It comes from finding a rhythm you can return to.

ACTION
Something small that you can do that might make a big difference

One Thing

Choose one area of your life that currently feels cluttered or noisy: information, commitments, notifications, or decisions. Then simplify it by changing one thing.

Remove one input, pause one obligation, or reduce one decision that doesn’t really need to be made right now. The goal isn’t to solve everything, it’s simply to create a little more space.

Small reductions in noise often restore far more clarity than adding new solutions.

PS: You might also take this moment to pause and explore the Leapers Club - and the free Taster Playbook, which has just opened. If you’re curious, you’re very welcome to come and take a look.

PROCESSING
A question to think about and consider (you can discuss this with someone or write your thoughts down)

“Where in my life has “just one more thing” slowly turned into too much, and what might shift if I began removing one thing at a time?”

Overwhelm rarely arrives suddenly. More often, it builds quietly as small additions accumulate: one more commitment, one more source of information, one more expectation to manage.

This question will be added to the Community Space in the Leapers Club for you to share your thoughts.

SHOUT OUT
Who / what I think deserves recognition - my gratitude or to be celebrated.

Thinking Differently

One of the defining traits of a Leaper is openness, in particular:

  • Openness to new ideas.

  • Openness to seeing things differently.

  • Openness to learning, even when it challenges what we thought we already understood.

  • Openness to connect, share and support.illi

Progress rarely begins with certainty. It begins with the wngness to stay curious a little longer. So this week’s shout out goes to those who remain open, to new perspectives, new conversations, and new ways forward.
