The 5 Unconscious Questions
We are all trying our best; we may be working for a promotion, trying to be present for our kids, building value in our business, trying to keep paying the mortgage or simply getting through the day in one piece. Whatever is being worked on, and however much effort is applied, we found that there are 5 important questions that sit at the very heart of matters.
From world leaders to janitors, from social media influencers to tax advisers, and from royalty to your neighbours, everyone is simply trying to figure out the answer to these basic 5 questions:
Am I good enough?
Do I belong?
Am I deserving?
How am I responsible?
Am I loved?
Age, religion, culture etc is irrelevant. As humans we need to feel that we can answer these - and answer them positively. However, they are sitting in our subconscious and are therefore often controlling externally behaviours. In addition to that, we can unconsciously succumb to the five, and / or overcompensate for them. Our starting point for these questions, and how they impact us, begins in early life based on our early experiences from care-givers. Each of the questions exist for survival reasons - if you look at them, they are all connected to being in a cave with our tribe! No matter what challenges you’re facing and how you show up, we can trace things back to the 5 questions and how you’re responding to them. This is true for everyone around you too.
ENERGY
An emotion or energy; a stand-out word / s
Solve
Most of enjoy enjoy solving things - whether that is for ourselves or others, and whether we are invited to or not!
In looking up the origins of SOLVE, I discovered that it comes from Latin SOLVERE meaning "to loosen, dissolve; untie, release, detach; depart; unlock; scatter; dismiss; accomplish, fulfill; explain; remove".
When we solve something, the challenge or issue is removed - who knew!
In Middle English especially in medicine, solve was used to describe "dissolving a substance in a liquid". The context of solve being "to explain, clear up, answer" is attested from 1530s.
ACTION
Something small that you can do that might make a big difference
Laugh A Little
Do something joyful that makes you smile - and hopefully laugh. Laughing is known to decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, which can improve your resistance to disease. It is a great - and positive - release! Go and watch a comedy film, listen to a funny podcast or even share a funny family story.
PROCESSING
A question to think about and consider (you can discuss this with someone or write your thoughts down)
“Which of the five questions is most challenging for me - and why?”
Go back to this week’s LEARN. Of the 5 questions listed, which one stands out to you as the most challenging to answer in a positive way? Why do you think that is? What can you do about it? For ease, here they are again:
Am I good enough?
Do I belong?
Am I deserving?
How am I responsible?
Am I loved?
I’d love for you to send me your own stories / thoughts about this. Drop me a line with your answer / thoughts on this question
SHOUT OUT
Who / what I think deserves recognition - my gratitude or to be celebrated.
