We’re All Human | Courage | The Boy, The Mole, The Fox & The Horse

Hello there! Welcome to my weekly LEAPS.

You’re receiving this email because you subscribed to my weekly Wednesday feature or our mailing list. Every Wednesday, I share 5 things using our LEAPS approach:

Learn: something new or an idea
Energy: an energy (good or bad) word and it’s meaning
Action: something to do
Processing: a question to consider
Shout out: something or someone that I want to celebrate or acknowledge

LEARN
Something Worth Sharing

We’re All Just Human

Forget about status, age, colour, nationality, what we do or where we are - we are all just human. We may seek like-minded friends, hang out with fellow sports fans, spend time with the family we were raised with, or prefer people who drive similar cars. No matter what our preferences are, if you break it all down to the simplest factors, we are all just human.

Have you noticed how much people - especially on social media - look for differences and opposing opinions, politics and views? Regardless of all the differences we may have, the ultimate ‘common’ piece is that we were all born, we all live and will all die. As Linda Ellis's poem "The Dash" reminds us, our lives are all made of two dates and a dash. What we choose to do with the dash - and who we choose to be during it - is what counts.

Whether you get annoyed by others, have a difficult colleague, sister, client or friend, they - like us - are simply human. When we can remind ourselves of the fact that we are all just human; every human is full of faults, fear, passions, hopes and dreams, then perhaps we can drop our shoulders and behave in a caring and compassionate way. As the wonderfully beautiful book The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and The Horse shows us through its incredible illustrations, we are all just trying our best.

ENERGY
An emotion or energy; a stand-out word / s

Courage

Isn’t this a lovely word? Courage is from the Old French CORAGE meaning "heart, innermost feelings; temper". It originates from Latin COR "heart".

Courage is our expression of the heart and our feelings.

ACTION
Something small that you can do that might make a big difference

Treat Yourself

Whether you buy yourself a book, a coffee, just sit uninterrupted for a moment or just change how you speak to yourself, the action this week is to treat yourself.

Just as a reminder - to treat means: "entertain with food and drink by way of compliment, good will or kindness". So go and treat yourself with kindness!

PROCESSING
A question to think about and consider (you can discuss this with someone or write your thoughts down)

“What is the bravest thing you’ve ever said?”

This is a wonderfully thought-provoking question that was inspired by the book mentioned earlier - The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and The Horse.

I’d love for you to send me your own stories / thoughts about this. Drop me a line with your answer / thoughts on this question

SHOUT OUT
Who / what I think deserves recognition - my gratitude or to be celebrated.

Book Recommendations

Book recommendations - especially non-fiction books - are getting my shout out this week. I love knowing what books have moved people, taught them something or inspired them. The last book I was recommended has run through this LEAPS - and allowed me to create the visual I am gifting this week.

LEAPS is a process used by our team and clients all the time - and even my own family on a daily basis.

I’ll be sharing a set of LEAPS each week with you and encourage you to do your own version:

  • L: what have you learned?

  • E: what’s your energy / feeling word

  • A: what’s one thing you need to do?

  • P: what are you thinking / processing?

  • S: who or what can you shout out?
