From Time to Timing | Occasion | When
Hello there! Welcome to my weekly LEAPS.
You’re receiving this email because you subscribed to my weekly Wednesday feature or our mailing list. Every Wednesday, I share 5 things using our LEAPS approach:
Learn: something new or an idea
Energy: an energy (good or bad) word and it’s meaning
Action: something to do
Processing: a question to consider
Shout out: something or someone that I want to celebrate or acknowledge

From Time to Timing
While away recently we commented on how fast time flies especially while catching up with great friends. This got me thinking about time - and timing. Where this took me is to consider Time as what and Timing as how, why, who, and when.
Time exists without our input. It keeps moving whether we engage with it or not. Timing is different, it is where we step in - it’s how we choose to act, why we act at all, who might be involved or affected, and when we decide the moment is right.
This explains why two people can have the same amount of time and yet create completely different outcomes. One follows the clock, while the other reads the situation.
To put it another way, timing brings context into play. It asks more of you: to have awareness, make judgements, have restraint, and to be bold and courageous.
It’s not just about doing something - it’s about doing the right thing, for the right reason, with the right people, at the right moment. Time sets the frame for us and timing brings it to life and shapes the result.
ENERGY
Focusing on an emotion or energy; a stand-out word / s
Occasion
While continuing with ‘time’ a theme, I was drawn to the word occasion. It’s from Latin occasio - meaning a favourable moment, an opportunity, a point of happening.
Originally, it wasn’t just any moment in time, it was a moment that presented itself, one that could be taken, used, or missed. Not every moment is an occasion and not every occasion is taken.
Timing is the ability to recognise the occasion, and choose what to do with it.
ACTION
Something small that you can do that might make a big difference
Design Your Moment
At the start of your day, choose a moment you want to experience - this could be a moment of calm, a moment of laughter, a moment of reflection etc. Really think about how it will feel to be in that moment.
As you go about your day, if and when your moment arrives, notice it without rushing past it.
Your time will pass anyway, but you will start to choose how at least one moment is experienced.
PROCESSING
A question to think about and consider (you can discuss this with someone or write your thoughts down)
“What moments in my life have stood out most to me - and why?”
Think of a few moments that continue to sit with you, and in particular:
What made them significant?
Who was there?
What was happening?
How did you feel?
This question will be added to the Community Space in the Leapers Club for you to share your thoughts.
SHOUT OUT
Who / what I think deserves recognition, my gratitude or to be celebrated.
Time With Those That Matter
It isn’t about how long you have with someone, it’s about how deeply you’re there with them. Being with our old friends in the Alps recently reminded me of how special time with those that matter to you can be. While time passes, the connections and memories are what we leave with.
