What Nature Knows | Cycle | Meaningful Life
Hello there! Welcome to my weekly LEAPS.
You’re receiving this email because you subscribed to my weekly Wednesday feature or our mailing list. Every Wednesday, I share 5 things using our LEAPS approach:
Learn: something new or an idea
Energy: an energy (good or bad) word and it’s meaning
Action: something to do
Processing: a question to consider
Shout out: something or someone that I want to celebrate or acknowledge
LEARN
Something Worth Sharing
What Nature Knows
Nature does not rely on one big moment of renewal - a start and an end - it works in cycles.
Seasons change, the leaves fall, ground rests, blossoms begin to appear. Nothing ever stays fixed, and nothing renews itself by force; the next phase comes through rhythm, not pressure.
What is striking is that nature does not cling to what has passed its moment. It releases what has been, clears it away to allow space before something new then emerges. Yet, in our own lives, we often try to build new beginnings on top of what is already full - we simply try and add.
We carry forward old thinking, outdated assumptions, unresolved conversations, and familiar ways of seeing ourselves, then wonder why something new does not quite take hold.
Nature knows a different way:
Before growth, there is clearing.
Before energy returns, there is rest.
Before something new, there is something made fresh.
Nothing is a single event, it is always part of an ongoing cycle - whether we can see it or not.
At the start of a new month, rather than asking only what you want to begin, it may be more useful to notice what needs to be released, cleared or refreshed - to make the space for growth.
ENERGY
An emotion or energy; a stand-out word / s
Cycle
A cycle is not a straight line. It moves, returns, and renews.
The word itself comes from the Greek kyklos, meaning circle or wheel, something that turns and comes back around. That origin matters. A cycle is not about constant forward motion, it is about movement with return.
In nature, everything follows a cycle, growth and decline, effort and rest, holding on and letting go. Nothing is designed to stay in one state indefinitely. This is what creates balance.
Without them, things become stuck, overextended, or depleted. With them, energy can return, systems can reset, and growth can happen again, naturally.
ACTION
Something small that you can do that might make a big difference
Radical Acceptance
Choose one area of life, work, or self where something feels difficult, stuck, or not as you would want it to be. Instead of trying to change it immediately, practice accepting it fully, exactly as it is right now.
You don’t have to like it, but just acknowledge it without resistance.
This action was inspired by the book I mention as my gift to you at the end of this LEAPS.
PROCESSING
A question to think about and consider (you can discuss this with someone or write your thoughts down)
“What reality am I still arguing with, and what is that resistance costing me?”
Resisting reality often feels like control, but it can quietly cost energy, clarity, and forward movement. Acceptance creates a different starting point and can remove the frustration.
This question will be added to the Community Space in the Leapers Club for you to share your thoughts.
SHOUT OUT
Who / what I think deserves recognition - my gratitude or to be celebrated.
A Kind Hand
To the quiet power of a kind hand - not your own, but someone else’s. Shout out to the ones that arrive without announcement, without words or the need to explain anything. In my case, this was a hand on a shoulder - a small gesture, but one that says, you’re not alone in this.
Recently, in a moment where I felt vulnerable and uncertain, a nurse placed her hand gently on my shoulder during surgery. It wasn’t her words, it was her actions that made all the difference.
