Power of ‘X’ | Collaboration | The Big Leap
Hello there! Welcome to my weekly LEAPS.
You’re receiving this email because you subscribed to my weekly Wednesday feature or our mailing list. Every Wednesday, I share 5 things using our LEAPS approach:
Learn: something new or an idea
Energy: an energy (good or bad) word and it’s meaning
Action: something to do
Processing: a question to consider
Shout out: something or someone that I want to celebrate or acknowledge

Something Worth Sharing
The Power of ‘X’
I spotted an email from Nike announcing a new collaboration: Nike x LEGO.
The "x" is everywhere at the moment:
Brands partnering with brands.
Businesses partnering with celebrities.
Creators partnering with organisations.
The reason is simple, the power of ‘x’ is multiplication.
It brings together different perspectives, different strengths, different experiences, and different audiences to create something neither could achieve alone.
Last week, I spent time talking to a fellow family business adviser about a forthcoming project. What began as a simple conversation quickly became something more. We both recognised the scale of the opportunity ahead, particularly with so many founder-led and family businesses entering what I've been calling the Business Boomer phase, where questions of succession, continuity, ownership, wealth and leadership are becoming increasingly important.
It reminded me that we don't always need to build everything ourselves. I’ve been fortunate anough to feel the power of ‘x’ directly with my business partner too. Sometimes the greatest value comes from combining what we know with what someone else knows.
The power of ‘x’ isn't just addition - it's multiplication.
ENERGY
Focusing on an emotion or energy; a stand-out word / s
Collaboration
From the Latin collaborare, meaning "to work together" - formed from com "with" + laborare "to work". When we bring the energy and work together, amazing things can happen.
ACTION
Something small that you can do that might make a big difference
Ask or Offer
This week, go our of your way to ask for help - or offer to collaborate or help someone else.
Notice what becomes possible when different strengths, perspectives or experiences come together.
PROCESSING
A question to think about and consider (you can discuss this with someone or write your thoughts down)
“What was the greatest collaboration you've experienced, and what did it make possible for you?”
With this question, consider any aspect of your life and what each person brought that couldn't have been achieved alone.
This question will be added to the Community Space in the Leapers Club for you to share your thoughts.
SHOUT OUT
Who / what I think deserves recognition, my gratitude or to be celebrated.
The courage to ask for help.
Many of the best ideas, opportunities and breakthroughs begin with a simple conversation and a willingness to involve someone else. Sometimes strength isn't doing it alone - it can be knowing when (and having the courage needed) to invite an ‘x’ into the equation!
