Shout out: something or someone that I want to celebrate or acknowledge
LEARN
Something Worth Sharing
Porcelain Energy
While working with a client last week, she shared her thoughts about her personal journey over the past year. Reflection is such an important “pause”, and it’s in these moments we can realise how far we’ve come. In this example, my client talked about the struggle she’d experienced in finding her true self and her identity. This particular young lady is an inspiration, almost emerging in front of my eyes - with a spark of ambition and purpose to pursue a life of fulfilment and meaning.
However, we chatted about the amount of energy it takes to present what we believe to be the ‘acceptable-should’ version of ourselves. I’m pretty sure I can safely say we all experience this - or at least HAVE experienced it. We can use an incredible amount of energy trying to create perfection for the outside world to see that living within our natural state. Many of us spend way too much time and focus building a shell around ourselves that we believe will be viewed positively and cover the reality of ourself - it can feel safer than if we let anything slip.
Have you ever thought about the fact that it takes so much effort to create this beautiful porcelain facade? Have you ever thought that no one cares about this, because everyone is too busy perfecting their own porcelain version of themselves? The energy we waste on the porcelain version could be much better used when applied to living a true and amazing life - and celebrating our flaws, mistakes and brilliance. Our energy, as with time and health, is incredibly valuable and once spent, is spent - so use it wisely.
ENERGY
An emotion or energy; a stand-out word / s
Vulnerable
Continuing on from this week’s Learn, the word VULNERABLE is from Late Latin VULNERARE meaning "to wound, hurt, injure, maim". When we are vulnerable we open ourselves we risk being hurt, but we also risk experiencing joy too!
ACTION
Something small that you can do that might make a big difference
Be More You
See if you can do a small thing this week that moves you towards yourself - notice when you hold yourself back, when you feel a “should” creep into your head or talk yourself out of (or into) something and it doesn’t feel quite right.
PROCESSING
A question to think about and consider (you can discuss this with someone or write your thoughts down)
“What can I let go of?”
Letting go of something or someone can be one of the most difficult things to do. I recently started to sort out my wardrobe and realised that we can overly attach ourself to clothes for sentimental reasons! I definitely need to let go of some of the items taking up space! What could you start to let go of, and what space would that provide you with?
I’d love for you to send me your own stories / thoughts about this. Drop me a line with your answer / thoughts on this question
SHOUT OUT
Who / what I think deserves recognition - my gratitude or to be celebrated.
Little Communities
This is a word I’ve noticed appearing around me quite a lot recently. There is no question that being part of the ‘right’ communities is so beneficial. This doesn’t need to be a vast community, it can be a few select people, like-values people, teams or friendships. The process of coming together is where ideas can be developed, challenges can be better overcome and support achieved. Shout out to our little communities - that despite their size, can create big impacts.
