how to guide:
leaps
we love to leap from here to there…
In 2015, while working with some amazing clients, we looked for a way of capturing their sessions for them and for us. We also wanted to prepare them for what was to come the following day and so LEAPS was born. The impact of this for individuals and the team we were working with was so significant, Dani started using LEAPS with her own family.
Fed up with the “same old” dinner conversations with their three children; “how was your day?” to which they would reply “fine”, they now had a structure and far more interesting questions. What happened was fascinating conversations and discoveries. LEAPS is something taught to all clients, teams and friends now. It also forms Dani’s weekly communication she sends out on a Wednesday.
LEARN
What have you learned during the week / year / day? It can be deep, funny, a useful fact or a life lesson.
e.g. To take a break and restENERGY (energy + motion = emotion)
This section is for you to state, in one word, how you feel. We suggest you avoid saying hungry or tired!
e.g. ResilientACTION
What do you see as the one big thing you need to ‘do’. This will be one big action.
e.g. Create a proposal for a clientPROCESSING
Something that you’re processing, or to put it another way, something on your mind. This can be from the past, present or future. What are you thinking about or what’s your big question?
e.g. What will my year ahead bring?SHOUT OUT
Who or what can you recognise? This is a form of gratitude
e.g. The person who helped you in the supermarket
REMEMBER, YOU CAN ALSO USE LEAPS WITH CHILDREN, TEAMS AND EVEN AT THE END OF YOUR DAY AS YOU REFLECT AND PLAN AHEAD.
You can use it daily, weekly, annually or for specific projects or events. It’s a wonderful tool for using with your family and friends at meal times - and far better than simply asking “how was your day?”.
