Let’s talk about that family business sh*t!
let's face it - there's a hell of a lot of sh*t in BOTH families and businesses!
But regardless of how much sh*t there is - and the complexity of it (see below) - we LOVE it all. This is where GLAS originated: with the need for Dani Saveker to sort her own family business sh*t! We get so excited by dysfunctional families, the chaos, miscommunication, frustrations and herds of elephants that trample through board rooms…bring it on.
1. The big ticket sht:
Of course this includes the likes of: succession (whatever you think that means) and who might, can, or wants to take over, managing the politics and shareholders, figuring out philanthropy (because that's cool, right?), how aligned (or not) to a vision (if we have one) we are, whether we trust the next generation or think they'll blow the cash…you know, that type of sh*t!
2. The family sh*t:
Communication is top of the list! Who thinks what, who said what at some BBQ, who feels hard done by, who's not pulling their weight, how unfair things are, how hard someone works, if a brother is golden balls or if we think our cousin's a d*ck, and so on.
3. The personal sh*t
How the founder can't or won't let go (PS. he's never going to let go!), who has the business and their identity screwed up, whether we're trying to be a perfectionist to prove we have any kind of value to anyone, who doesn't even want to be in the business - you get the gist!
Oh... and then there's all the usual business sh*t! I think you get the point, or at least if you're part of a family business you will. Why not drop Dani a line for an off-the-record chat. There’s NOTHING she hasn’t heard before!
