D: Deliberate

self-compassion

If we’ve successfully been OPEN, we need to keep moving forwards to DELIBERATE. This is where we need to make choices, to stop drifting and hoping for the best – but be intentional in what we need and how to start moving to a better place. This can include adding micro-habits or possibly stopping doing certain things. Again, it is completely personal – for some people this is building in ways of being mindful, for others it may be walking the dog or reading a page a day.

Many followers of the GLAS Method will be used to this word being used – act in a way that you mean and be willing to accept the consequences of your choices. While it’s not easy, it is vital. The GLAS ‘Deliberate Year’ is a helpful tool for this

  • Know what you need to move to – what you need to be deliberate about, take one at a time

  • Build small steps forwards – creating micro habits (don’t worry, they compound)

  • Write the important things down that you’re building the right habits for yourself

Keep recording them – see them building

    Review and adjust accordingly
