FINDING ALIGNMENT AND BALANCE

UNDERSTANDING EACH AREA OF LIFE, RELATIONSHIPS AND BUSINESS

GLAS was originally developed to help family businesses and leaders better navigate the challenges being faced at work, at home and with relationships. It also allowed them to simplify decision making, strategic development and much more as well as  providing a framework to successfully navigate tricky situations such as succession planning and culture development while adding significant value to their businesses and lives.

Of course, it isn’t just family businesses that can face uncertainties and issues with these areas – they can show up for us all at different times.  Dani Saveker found that there were 7 key things that constantly showed up in people’s lives, opportunities, businesses, teams  and other types of living systems. Not only this, but she discovered that for each of these 7 area – the GLAS Elements – there were repeating themes  that appeared when things worked well. Equally, when there was imbalance and misalignment, a different set of common themes presented themselves. This was the early stage of the GLAS method which then developed into a powerful approach and tool kit for business, life and relationships.

In the first document you received, you were given the overall score for your Alignment and Balance. This report builds from this and provides you with a detailed examination for specific areas of your life based on the 7 core elements of GLAS. Over the next few pages, you will be shown each area, how balanced it is and what this means. We believe that to live in a deliberate and fulfilling way, we need each of the 7 elements to be strong – balanced – and also aligned and working well together. The elements cover:

  1. Your sense of identity and who you are

  2. Your ability to relate well to others and build strong relationships

  3. Your activities, which may include your work and career

  4. Your interaction with the external world, opportunities, challenges and impact

  5. Your purpose and greater meaning

  6. Your direction and how you lead your life

  7. Your motivation and how needs are being met
