Something Worth SharingIt Will Be Okay We all experience things that we feel are daunting, challenging and painful, it’s called “life”. Over the past three weeks we have had our middle son home with us, having lived in Canada for two years. At 23 years old, he’s been “adulting” - working for a living, managing his finances, accommodation, travel, food, bills, relationships etc. Some of these things have fallen into the daunting, challenging and painful categories. He’s openly shared with us that some of these things have - at times - created extreme anxiety. As ‘mum’, it’s been wonderful to wrap him up and help him to recharge, ready to return to the Canadian mountains - full of stunning scenery and most importantly, good skiing! The sense of feeling that things are almost insurmountable is something that his dad and I have certainly experienced in our lives, both personally and through our businesses. I was only too happy to share with our boy that everyone, including us, can feel the way he has. In fact, most of my clients have had this same feeling at some point. My learn has come from personal experience and knowing what works with others to help manage these feelings of overwhelm. It is completely normal to feel overwhelmed - there’s nothing wrong with you. The feelings are nothing to do with how successful you are, and can be. Every single person has times of struggle and overwhelm. Share your feelings openly and honestly with someone you trust. PAUSE. Close your eyes and know that at this exact moment, everything is okay. When things feel impossible, know that the situation (and all that comes with it) will pass - and things will be okay again. Perspective is everything - how you see things impacts how you feel, and vice versa. Knowing this can help. The challenges we are facing hold gifts and lessons - despite how difficult they are.
To summarise, and as I told Max, in this precise moment you’re ok and things will work out. His new mantra he takes back to Canada is: “it will be okay”.
