Something Worth SharingWhere’s The Evidence? My learn this week stems from my own personal self-observation; I have a real thing for ‘evidence’. I’ve been thinking about where this stems from and I believe that it is something that developed in early childhood. I used to hear quite a few ‘mis-truths’ as I grew up and the only way to gain confidence about what was true or otherwise was to seek tangible evidence. I was talking to someone recently about words and actions being disconnected. We chatted about and the issue of actions (the evidence) not being aligned to what was being promised. In leadership, evidence is especially critical. People look to whoever is ultimately responsible for providing evidence - whether that is feedback, numbers or behaviours. If evidence is lacking or contradictory, relationships, trust and safety are quickly undermined. When we set goals and strive to achieve, it is equally important to know what the evidence will be of our success - otherwise, how do we really know we’ve achieved what we wanted?
