LEARN Something Worth SharingThe Importance of Brilliant Basics Every business and organisation has a price of entry - the reasonably expected deliverables. For example: in the case of a school, we expect that it will teach children, in the case of an online business, we expect that it will have a functioning website and way of contacting the business about products and deliveries, and for a law firm, we can reasonably expect qualified lawyers to give advice. Unfortunately, many organisations get carried away by trying to be flashy - boasting about numbers of followers, growing super fast, shiny new products and clever technology. What this can lead to is missing the ‘brilliant basics’ - the reasonably expected things that are’t sexy and showy, but which matter. Very often the fancy things distract and overcomplicate - and most importantly don’t take into account the user experience. Getting focused on ‘brilliant basics’ must be a priority - make ‘getting in touch’ easy, ‘ordering’ simple, ‘delivery’ effective and doing what you say, and by when you say. The re-learning of this has come from many sources this week, of people not responding in reasonable time or doing what they said they would. Think about your organisation and how good your basics are.
