Something Worth SharingPause, Question and Pivot There’s a repeating theme that I’ve noticed this week - that of failing to question and pivot. We are all guilty of being incredibly busy, often with a dose of overwhelm and chaos thrown in for good measure. Because of this, it’s easy to keep our heads down and to just keep ploughing onwards - blindly. The issue with just trying to keep our heads above water means we don’t take the chance to occasionally stop (or at least pause), question and potentially pivot. We are blinded by our daily ‘to do’ list and the often unreasonable expectations we place on ourselves. Society feels like a runaway steam train and if you don’t keep up you’ll get flattened. We take things at face value and give trust to external forces - social media for example. This means we are losing the ability to have self-awareness, use our instincts and be brave enough to challenge, question and potentially pivot - and therefore change course. This is despite things perhaps not working well for us or our business, something being upsetting, holding us back etc. We are all excellent at accumulating things, but not at assessing how good they are for what we are trying to achieve. Just because something once worked well for you in your life, doesn’t mean it always will. This also applies in teams, projects, sport and business. What served you well yesterday will more than likely not serve as well tomorrow. Remember to at least pause and question often - and then if appropriate, pivot.
