Something Worth SharingStep Away From The Sh*t Last week was our wedding anniversary. After the COVID-19 lock-down and undertaking an extension building product last year, we’ve not really celebrated our anniversary well in recent years. This year was going to be different! We decided to go away for a couple of days - not far, but far enough to escape the day-to-day distractions and grind. As soon as we’d packed overnight bags and got into the car (only to travel about an hour), my shoulders relaxed. I hadn’t realised how much I needed to step away from the desk, computer, kitchen, kids, dogs and washing machine...to name just a few things! As we arrived at the hotel that was to be our sanctuary over the next couple of days, my husband and I were deep in conversation - not about the daily stuff, but our thoughts, ideas, dreams and future. These are things I work with clients on, but sometimes being able to take your own medicine is challenging. A little later that day, sat with a coffee overlooking beautiful scenery, Will mentioned that he still struggled to explain to people what GLAS was (because it can do so many things). Wow! When your own husband says that, you have to sit up and take stock. Bless him though, he continued by saying he found it easiest to say that GLAS is brilliant at helping people to sort their sh*t out - in their life, business and relationships (family businesses especially). It felt like someone had thrown a glass of ice cold water over me. Why not? Why not just say that…it’s so obvious! You may now spot a change or two on the GLAS website. My ‘big’ learn this week is how important it is to step away from the sh*t so you can start to sort it out. My secondary learn is to not overcomplicate the simple things and when it feels right, go with it! What have you got to lose?
